component of our program by arranging additional lectures on: Women

upon such as Amy's famous homemade rhubarb pies, African art,
massage therapy, and oil changes. Thanks.
SCC NAMED 2008 AWARD WINNER FOR RECYCLING PROGRAM
SCC was the only community college (or university) recognized as one
of the 2008 Best Workplaces for Recycling by King County's Garbage
and Recycling Services within the Solid Waste Division.
The college met the required criteria for recognition of this award.
In the second year of the program, the number of businesses and
organizations awarded the title of Best Workplaces for Recycling
more than doubled, from 21 to 50. These workplaces demonstrated the
very best recycling programs in their business practices and for the
people they serve.
Recognition will include having a profile of our college posted on
the Solid Waste Division’s web site and there will be a bulletin
released to the press today, July 17th. We will also receive a paper
certificate, an electronic 2008 Best Workplace for Recycling logo
for our web site and window clings.
RECYCLING IS NOW EASIER AT SCC
Our college started a new recycling program partnership with a
company called CleanScapes on July 1, 2008. This will allow everyone
on campus to more easily recycle as this company does not require us
to separate recycling streams. The only exception is the green
recycle bins designated for food scrap items only inside the PUB.
The other big bonus for using this company is their recycling
program services are free of charge. We are already paying for them
as part of our garbage bill.
We can now place paper and cardboard, newspaper, mixed paper, phone
books, shredded paper, paper bags, plastic bottles, dairy tubs,
glass bottles and jars, and aluminum and metal cans into the same
recycling bins. Yes, this includes those blue recycling bins you see
in the PUB and other locations, along with the round cardboard
recycling bins you see at the different buildings on campus.
Facilities personnel will pick up all of the large and small
recycling bins and place the combined contents into one of three
large recycling containers located around the campus, making them
ready for pickup by CleanScapes each Tuesday. The recycling tonnage
will be tracked.
