Board of Trustees

Legal power and responsibility for the operation of Shoreline Community College rests with the board of trustees. The board of trustees establishes and reviews college policies and oversees the general management of funds and properties.

The board is composed of five trustees, who are appointed by the governor of Washington State with the consent of the Senate.  The board of trustees acts as a unit. As such, it represents the public interest and functions to ensure the basic fiscal integrity of the college.

Members of the Board

Shoubee Liaw, Board Chair
Shoubee Liaw was appointed to the Board of Trustees at Shoreline Community College in December 2005.  Currently a Professional Development Coordinator for the Seattle Public Schools, Ms. Liaw was a Family Advocate for Shoreline Public Schools from 1999 to 2002.

Roger Olstad, Vice Chair
Roger Olstad was appointed to the Board of Trustees at Shoreline Community College in October 2006.  Mr. Olstad was a science education professor at the University of Washington from 1964 to 1995, a Boeing Endowed Professor from 1990-1995, worked as a consultant to numerous local, state, national and international groups and is a member of a number of advisory committees. 

Dick Stucky
Dick Stucky was appointed to the Board of Trustees at Shoreline Community College in December 2004.  Mr. Stucky has an extensive career in technology and math education and was in charge of the development and management of the Computer Education Program and the secondary mathematics program for the Shoreline School District from 1980 to 1988.

Gidget Terpstra
Gidget Terpstra was appointed to the Board of Trustees at Shoreline Community College in July 2004.  Ms. Terpstra is currently the Readiness to Learn Family (RTL) Advocate for Parkwood Elementary School and the District Homeless Education Liaison for the Shoreline Public Schools.

Jerry Smith
Jerry Smith, who resides in Shoreline, has worked in the automotive industry for over 30 years and has been involved with Shoreline’s automotive program since its inception in the late 1970s.

2008 BOARD OF TRUSTEES REGULAR MEETINGS
(Approved by the Board of Trustees : October 24, 2007 Regular Meeting)

The Shoreline Community College Board of Trustees shall hold Regular Meetings at 4:00 PM in the Board Room (#1011M) in the Administration Building (#1000) at Shoreline Community College (16101 Greenwood Avenue North, Shoreline, Washington).  The Board is scheduled to meet on the following dates in calendar year 2008:
