eLearning Orientation Sessions

Back to: Home | Blackboard | Getting Started

Blackboard is the web-based course management systems used by Shoreline Community College for online instruction. Your instructors may be using this software to offer an online or hybrid class, or they might be using them to enhance their course with online resources

If you are new to online learning, consider attending an on-campus, optional 50-minute orientation session. At the session, you will:

  • Learn how to login to Blackboard
  • Join your online classroom
  • Learn about the tools and features available in the online classroom

These sessions are recommended but not required. There is no need to register -- just come and drop-in. Please bring your SID (the 9 digit number that starts with 965 found on SCC students cards or registration information) to the session.

If you are unable to come to one of these face-to-face sessions, consider checking out a recording of one on DVD from the SCC Library. You can watch the session on your computer's DVD player and follow along on the Internet at the same time. Go to the Library Circulation Desk and ask for the "Blackboard Student Orientation" DVD. You can check it out for one week. If you live remotely and are unable to come to the Library to checkout the DVD, contact eLearning Services at eLearning@shoreline.edu.
