sculpture by Lanny Bergner Shoreline, WA — The Shoreline Community College Gallery features the suspended
and pedestal sculptures of Lanny Bergner April 4 – 29, 2006. Using hands-on
processes of fraying, twisting, wrapping, gluing and connecting, Bergner
transforms common screens, wire, silicone, glass frit (fused material used in
making glass) and gourds into art pieces.
Bergner’s work explores a world increasingly affected by human involvement via
the juxtaposition of forms and materials. “My aim is to bring the
natural/artificial and man/nature together into an assemblage of forms that
appear to have grown into being,” says Bergner. “The work is shaped by my fears,
quirks and joys and ultimately celebrates the mystery and wonder of it all.” The gallery is in Building 1000 on the main campus, located at 16101 Greenwood
Avenue North, just north of Seattle city limits and west of Aurora Avenue.
Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 4:30
p.m., Friday. Call 206.546.4101, x4433 for more information.
